Rainstar Garments Company is launching its first ever imprint range in the UK in January. Images talks to Tracy Richards to find out what the new collection will bring to the outerwear market

Rainstar Garments Company has been operating in the UK since 2014, creating outdoor clothing for both men and women. The factory and design teams at the Chinese company have been working together for considerably longer, creating garments for many celebrated brands, such as BMW and Yamaha, over the past 15 years.

Since setting up in the UK the company has been focusing on bespoke garments for its clients, including those in the print and embroidery industry. According to Tracy Richards, (an industry veteran who was previously the managing director of a major clothing distributor and who is now working on Rainstar’s launch), owner Tony Tao subsequently identified a gap in the UK and EU market for stock corporate-, work- and promotionalwear that offers retail styling at competitive prices. What will really set the new imprint collection apart, explains Tracy, is the fact that the company owns a factory in China: this will allow it to keep prices low while ensuring that the highest quality standards are always maintained.

Accompanied by experienced sales manager Andrea Brownlee, who has already been out on the road meeting many prospective customers, the Rainstar team is working hard towards the January launch of its new, tightly focused, imprint jacket range. The products, which are designed especially for the UK print and embroidery market and are available in men’s and women’s styles, include two types of softshell, a fleece, rain jackets, and three-in-one jackets. As befits a brand that has a solid background in retail, the garments will exhibit a close attention to detail, with YKK zips as standard, covers at the top of neck zips and other finishing touches, while high-end fabrics will be used throughout.

While the company will initially be focusing on jackets due to its expertise as an outdoor brand, Tracy says the team’s direction will also be led by customer requests. Bespoke orders for fleeces, softshells and jackets will also continue to be available, with lead times of 120 days and a minimum order of 1,000 units.

Those wanting to be the first to experience the new jackets will be able to visit Rainstar’s stand at the PSI show in Dusseldorf, Germany, from 10-12 January 2017, and Printwear & Promotion Live! in Birmingham from 26-28 February 2017.

When asked why Images readers should consider Rainstar for their jacket requirements in 2017, Tracy’s reasoning is straightforward and succinct: she comments, “The ethos of the brand is to provide top quality, stylish garments, but at great prices as they are sourced direct from the factory. The pricing is going to be really competitive, but with no compromise on the quality.”
