You’ll know the name, now get to know the person. Mark Smith, sales director of Adelco, talks about dancing, zoo keeper ambitions and being a party animal

How did you start your career in the industry?
I worked as a screen printer from age 14, printing bottles and other industrial items for pocket money. I started working on printed garments when I joined Adelco in 1987. I also did some work experience at Ocean Pacific print shop in High Wycombe after joining Adelco, and then learnt the rest on the job.

What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you at work?
Meeting business associates that become friends.

Which three words would your best friend use to describe your personality?
Total party animal.

What’s your favourite word or phrase?
“What goes around comes around.” I believe in treating people how you would wish to be treated yourself. Both in personal and business life.

Salt and vinegar or cheese and onion?
Cheese and onion, but only with gum in my pocket to sort the breath out!

Which tune can’t you get out of your head at the moment?
Justin Timberlake, Can’t stop the feeling. Told you I was a party animal.

What’s your hidden talent?
I’m a bit of a dancer but only after a drink or two

What’s your greatest ambition?
To see my kids settled and happy, which is almost achieved.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Good food and wine, hence my permanent belly bulge.

Zoo keeper

Where is the best place you’ve ever visited?
Phi Phi, Thailand, and Austria for skiing

Which gadget couldn’t you live without?
My iPhone. Office in my pocket
