You’ll know the name, now get to know the person. Elaine Barlow, brand manager at SF and Front Row & Co, talks about the Kardashians, her talent for singing and wanting to be a mermaid

When did you start your career in the industry?
I worked in retail for around seven years – from shop floor to visual merchandising to buying. After studying fashion design at uni, I started working for a high-street branded retailer and moved to London with them. Having spent two years in the hustle and bustle, I was ready to move back to Scotland and found the opening at Henbury.

What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you at work?
In my previous job, I was rewarded with an all-expenses-paid ski trip to Verbier. Private chef in our chalet, one-to-one ski lessons and a fully stocked bar beside the outdoor Jacuzzi… There were 10 of us there together and we had such a laugh, while enjoying a taste of luxury!

Which three words would your best friend use to describe your personality?
I’ve asked: “Fun, thoughtful, quick-witted”, was the response from one friend.

What’s your favourite phrase?
“I can’t decide” – especially in restaurants; or “I don’t know; let’s Google it.”

Salt and vinegar or cheese and onion?
Salt and vinegar

What’s your hidden talent?
I’m not the worst singer. I sang the ‘first dance’ song at my cousin’s wedding, which was emotional, but at the other end of the spectrum I also love Nicki Minaj ‘Super Bass’ if there’s karaoke going!

What’s your greatest ambition?
To be a mermaid. I’ve had red hair for almost 10 years, which is probably because I love Ariel…

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Keeping Up With the Kardashians! Good brain-dead telly to help me switch off after a long, busy day. It makes me laugh because of how ridiculous it is!

Is there another job you’ve always wanted to do?
Travel blogger: visiting cool places, eating gorgeous foods and taking Instagram-worthy snaps? Perfect. Earning money from it? Brucey Bonus.

Where is the best place you’ve ever visited?
The Grand Canyon is incredible – photos do not do it justice. New York, Barcelona and Venice are also up there on my list of favourite places; I love exploring somewhere new, wandering around, trying new foods and soaking up the atmosphere.

Which gadget couldn’t you live without?
My iPad Mini goes everywhere with me. I’m planning our wedding for next year so always on emails/Pinterest/Google! It’s also handy during meetings where I can pull up websites or images to support our discussions.

If you could ask one person (living or dead) one question, what would you ask?
To Emma Thompson: ‘Fancy a drink?’ I love her, and I bet she has some great stories!

‘Fancy a drink?’

Guilty pleasure…
